Residential educational institutions run on rented premises were locked by owners in protest of the delay in payment of rents by the government across erstwhile Adilabad district on Tuesday.
Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Telangana Backward Classes Residential School in Bellampalli and Luxettipet towns and other parts of Mancherial district were locked by the owners. Members of the owners’ association displayed a banner at the main entrances of the schools explaining the reason behind the owners’ decision. Around 20 schools were closed in different parts of Nirmal, Mancherial, Adilabad and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts.
“Due to the inordinate delay in payment of rent for 30 months, the buildings are being locked from October 15 onwards. Representations were submitted to higher officials several times. However, the issue was not addressed. The buildings will be opened only after receiving the rents. Inconvenience is regretted. Society of Telangana is requested to understand our plight,”
