A tribal woman, who was on her way to a hospital in an autorickshaw, delivered a baby in the vehicle mid-way during the journey.

The woman, Banoth Swapna, a resident of Purya Nayak Thanda in Jharasangam mandal, hired an auto, instead of calling the 108 ambulance service to reach the primary health centre (PHC) in Jharasangam.

Her husband, Sunil, said that it would take a lot of time for the 108 to reach their village and pick up the patient since the entire stretch of the road was damaged. Since the thanda had no proper road connectivity, they feared the 108 services would not come in time.
