The long-standing legal battle over Krishna river water sharing between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has entered a crucial phase. With the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal-II (KWDT-II) set to hear further terms of reference starting on February 19, Andhra Pradesh has once again approached the Supreme Court for a verdict on the writ petition it filed in November 2023.
The Andhra Pradesh government, which has been opposing the further terms of reference issued by the Centre, has sought a swift Supreme Court verdict before the Tribunal makes any decisions. It has requested the Supreme Court to expedite their plea, stressing the urgency of the situation.
