A surprise check organized by the railway police against drug peddlers on all platforms and trains at Secunderabad railway station on Thursday resulted in recovery of four dry ganja bags abandoned on platform seven on the station premises. Following instructions from senior officers, Secunderabad Railway Sub-Inspector D. Ramesh and his staff were checking platform seven when they found four bags near the food stall. They enquired with passengers, shopkeepers and hawkers about the bag, but no one responded.
Later, the police opened four bags and found 26 pockets wrapped with brown colour plaster. They opened each bag and detected two kgs each of dry ganja totaling 52 kgs all worth Rs.26 lakh. Police suspect the ganja smugglers would have abandoned the bags on the platform fearing that the police would nab them and fled the station premises.
