A circle inspector of police working in Makhtal and two police constables were nabbed by the officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) when they allegedly demanded and accepted bribe for filing a defective chargesheet in an alleged rape case, to help the accused person.
The trap took place in the town on Tuesday morning. Officials said a rape case accused was recently granted a bail with the condition that he had to sign in the police station every Monday. The police officer was alleged to have demanded Rs 20,000 bribe to file a defective chargesheet which could help in the acquital of the case. However, the rape accused approached the ACB officials foloowing which the trap was planned.
The bribe amount was collected by two constables Siva Reddy and Narasimha when they were accepting the currency notes.
