Senior gynecologist and founder of Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, Dr. Kotha Ushalakshmi has passed away due to heart failure on Tuesday. She was 91.
Dr Ushalakshmi graduated and obtained her PG from Guntur Medical College and was Professor, Obstetrics and Gynecology at Niloufer Hospital for a long time.
A breast cancer conqueror herself, Dr Ushalakshmi later founded Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, a not-for-profit breast cancer charity in September 2007, to empower women on the importance of early detection of breast cancer and establish a population based Breast Cancer Screening Programme.
