In a bid to dispel misconceptions about the consumption of chicken and eggs, Vencobb Chicken and NECC organized a chicken and egg mela in different parts of the city on Friday. Scores of people attended the melas where free dishes made with chicken and eggs were served.
The organisers explained to the crowds that any bacteria or virus would die when chicken and eggs were cooked at temperatures above 70 degrees Centigrade, but any Indian cooking is done at 100 degrees C. Hence, it was perfectly safe to consume properly cooked chicken and eggs, they explained.
Hundreds of enthusiastic people thronged the chicken and egg mela and relished the dishes. The organisers also highlighted the fact that both chicken and eggs were high-protein diets available at cheap prices. The organisers sought to counter the propaganda on social media about the consumption of chicken and eggs.
