The decks have been cleared for electricity bill payments through UPI apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Amazon Pay, and Paytm. Consumers can now make payments through these apps.
It may be recalled that the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana had earlier stopped accepting online payments through service providers like PhonePe, Google Pay, and banks, citing an RBI directive.
However, both North and South Discoms have now joined the Bharat Bill Payment Services, allowing consumers to use these apps again.
