Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma appeared for questioning at the Ongole rural police station on Friday regarding his controversial social media posts. CI Srikanth Babu led the inquiry. The posts in question are related to Varma’s film Vyooham, which was released prior to the general elections and was perceived by some as favouring the YSR Congress Party. During the film’s promotional period, Varma shared several posts on social media that were deemed derogatory towards Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh, and Pawan Kalyan.
Following these posts, a Telugu Desam Party member filed a complaint, leading the police to register a case against the filmmaker. Varma had previously avoided police questioning, citing a busy schedule and communicating his unavailability via WhatsApp. He also reportedly missed subsequent scheduled inquiries without prior police permission, and was briefly unreachable when police attempted to apprehend him.
