In an alarming trend, violations of traffic rules and cases for drunk driving have drastically gone up in the district in 2024, according to information provided by the police.
As many as 2,15,927 e-challans were imposed against motorists for violating traffic norms in the district in 2024 when compared to 1,53,230, posting an increase by 40 percent. Fines worth Rs 5 crore were imposed against the violators. The quantum of fines was Rs 3.37 crore in corresponding period.
